Vinification:

Fermentation vessels used were closed top stainless steel tanks.

The wine was matured for 7 months in French oak barriques.

Only French oak from the Troncais, Allier and Vosges forests are used.

This wine has a little bit of the wild about it. Its personality has been shaped by wild yeasts found in the vineyards and the winery. The grapes come from the Wairau Valley (''Wairau'' is a Marori word meaning ''many waters'') situated along the 170km long Wairau River that runs from the mountains in the west to the ocean at Cloudy Bay.

The vineyard is positioned at 220 metres above sea level

The soil composition is of Loess, Quartz sands, light river gravels,

The average age of the vines are 9 years with an average yield of 40 hl/ha.

Harvested by hand.

Winery information:

A long time in the shadow of the more full-bodied red wines of the New World, Pinot Noir has become the darling of the red wines imbibed in homes, cafes, and restaurants across the world. New Zealand is blessed with two of the New World's best regions for making fine wine from Martinborough and Central Otago.

Wild Rock are privileged to have some of the best vineyards in each region. These are special wines from special places.

Cupid's Arrow Pinot Noir comes from Central Otago, home of some of New Zealand's best Pinot's. It delivers an intensity of fruit, rounded tannins and delicate balance that many European winemakers would die for, but all at a fantastic price and in an non-pretentious and straightforward way.

Tasting Note:

Deep crimson red colour. Lifted aromatics of cinnamon, dried herbs, dark rose petal and black cherry. On the palate sweet fruit is well integrated with fine tannin and subtle oak flavours to give a soft but long finish.
